Why are we doing this? 

We are launching this scholarship for several reasons:

1. Increase awareness of the power of coaching as a people development intervention. Africa’s most impactful leaders have excelled with coaching. Coaching is often way more powerful, at nurturing leaders, than training or consulting, yet the intervention is often misunderstood, wrongly applied,  or not considered. 
2. We need more impactful leaders. We believe that everything starts with how we lead and show up at all levels (national, organizational and individual). We have a collective responsibility for our continent to rise to greatness. We can only reach our own dream for African excellence if we improve the quality of leadership in all sectors and at all levels. With Covid-19, we also need a different kind of leadership that allows staff to self-actualize.
3. Increase access to high-quality coach training. Unfortunately, high-quality coaching has only been available to our elites. Yet the need for coaching is universal. At this moment in time, almost every institution and entrepreneur  needs mindset change, innovation and creativity, agility and resilience,  and other challenges that are typically addressed through coaching . We believe that if we make available our core content and professional skills  to a wider group of leaders and aspiring coaches, the coaching space will prosper. This will also address some of the core threats facing the coaching industry on the continent. Anyone that wishes to play in this field will at least have the basic instruction.
4. Improve the “image” of coaching.  We believe the #1 challenge facing us coaches today is that untrained and incompetent coaches are damaging the reputation of the industry. There is no licence required to start your coaching practice, and as a consequence, anyone can call themselves a coach. Many coach training programs are beyond the reach of most of people and organizations that would otherwise desire coaching skills. We believe that by providing the basic coaching skills training free, we shall raise the overall standard of coaching across the continent. 

Coaching has proven to deliver results in growing leaders; and indeed, it will be a cornerstone in driving the change we wish to see.

This Program will help address the fundamental problem that in Africa, we do not have enough skilled coaches on the continent to meet the vast need for coaching. 

 Theory of Change

One way of making coaching accessible would be having enough skilled in-house coaches so that the benefit of coaching as a people development intervention is brought closer home within institutions. 

 Leaders who are also coaches would make a huge difference in the way nations and institutions run, and in productivity.  As our commitment to nurturing African Excellence, we would like to support the supply of skilled coaches on the continent to catalyse growth in productivity at a large scale.

What is this really about?

The wish to impact Africa’s productivity at a large scale is what inspired us to develop an online coaching skills development program for leaders and coaches around Africa. This is a program that we would typically market at USD 500 per person. The hands-on program produces skilled in-house coaches and is ideal for coaching for performance. Coach Africa is helping in bridge the supply gap faster.

How to Apply? 

Application for the scholarship is on-line and is open to all eligible (aspiring) coaches and leaders in Africa. Coach Africa: Where Excellence is Past, Present and The Future

Coach Africa Limited started its business operations in 2006 locally in Kampala, Uganda and was the very first coaching firm in Eastern Africa focusing on Organizational and Professional development. It has since developed itself as a Pan African coaching business empowering organizations and leaders across the continent. 

In 2019, Coach Africa went global by kickstarting a new virtual business arm, extending its reach to global audiences.

In 2021, Coach Africa Won the prestigious Doing business in Africa (DBA) Award.
