PRESS RELEASE

Coach Africa becomes a recognised coach training institution

Kampala, 28th April 2022

Today we celebrate!

We are proud to announce that Coach Africa is now a recognised Coach Training Institution, RCTI accredited by The Africa Board for Coaching, Consulting and Coaching Psychology (ABCCCP).

Let us tell you why this is such a big deal to us and why you should care as a coach.

Increase credibility of the coaching profession

The whole purpose of the ABCCCP is to ensure the credibility of coaches and consultants across the African continent.

They were concerned (as we are) about the fact that anybody could wake up in the morning and call themselves a coach and there was no quality assurance mechanism.

But most importantly, they were concerned about the development of leaders within the African continent, and they knew as credible coaches and consultants with years of experience and a passion for a growing Africa, that the role of coaches and consultants is crucial in this growth.

As an organisation, they have shown a greater commitment to contribute to evolving coaching practice in Africa, in a way that is aligned to the indigenous practices on the continent while underpinned by modern research.

Promote the development of African-grown coaching models

Secondly, and this is what excites us most, is they wanted to heed the answer to the question: Is there a way to consult to African leaders or to coach African leaders that is unique to Africa?

Is there such a thing as an African coaching model?

Well, here’s where Coach Africa and the ABCCCP are really aligned.

We love seeing home-grown African brewed coaching models and our Founder Dr. Norah Bwaya has developed the widely recognised and celebrated T.R.E.E.S. model.

Practice what we teach

If you’re a coach and are considering working with us, it should mean that we actually “practice what we teach”. We are seeking ourselves to conform to the highest possible level of coaching excellence and to hold ourselves accountable.

In fact, the ABCCCP undertook and will continue to do rigorous assessments of our international processes and coaching methodologies, as they share the belief that Africa is a centre for educational excellence and innovation.

How does this help me as a coach?

You can be more confident than ever in our ability to help you forward with your coaching business.

Working with us now means, you work with a trusted and recognised coach training institution.

We would be honoured to provide you with the credibility, knowledge and tools to become an incredible coach based on bespoke coaching models firmly rooted in the African context and relevant for both an African audience and the global audience.

Catering to different stages

Now we understand, all of us (aspiring) coaches are at different stages in our coaching careers and thus have different professional needs.

We are proud we now have three distinct services for you as a coach, no matter if you are just starting out or if you have decades of coaching experience:

The bigger picture here is that we would love to see an Africa with 10,000,000 coaches by 2030 and we are dedicated to work with partners (like ABCCCP) to grow the overall coaching space.

Let’s grow the overall coaching space together, there is more than enough for all of us.

The hard reality is that there are not enough jobs around for our young people whilst our leaders do not get proper support in building their organisations, so they cannot keep up in creating jobs.

There’s nothing more frustrating than graduating and finding there are no meaningful jobs.

It’s hard for leaders to be forced to retrench people due to lack of support.

As we all know coaching is a deeply meaningful way to live our lives in service of others whilst doing well for ourselves and our families.

Let’s grow the space altogether, and please join our Credentialed Coach Launch tomorrow to celebrate this milestone with us.
